Some useful things to know at the start of counselling

  • During the assessment I will explain how I work and find out a bit more about you.

  • I will send you a contract to read through before we meet.

  • The contract includes information about my cancellations policy - I need 48 hours notice if you need to cancel and will have to charge you for the full session with less than this.

  • I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and look after your data in line with the Data Protection Act 2018. My privacy policy is included with the contract.

  • I work within the BACP Guidelines

  • I am DBS checked

How I work

We can work together face-to-face, on-line, via telephone, or walking in the local (Newbury) area.  You could choose a mixture of each.

I also have a therapy dog, who can join us, if he would help you to feel more relaxed.

My counselling room is a comfortable, quiet and confidential space in my home.

As a person centred therapist, I believe that the answers are already within you, but sometimes we can find it difficult to get to them.  My role is primarily to listen, to try understand how it feels to be you and to help you get to there.

I will help you to better hear your own inner voice and to learn to be your own guide.

Talking and being heard can have their own healing power, and working together can be an opportunity to say what you really mean and through this to work out how you really feel.
